Are you always on the lookout for emerging authors and poets? If so, we want you! This Magazine is looking for both a fiction editor and poetry editor!

Our fiction editor is responsible for overseeing the magazine’s fiction section. This Magazine publishes six print issues a year, with each issue featuring a short story by a prominent or up-and-coming Canadian writer. Our poetry editor is responsible for overseeing the magazine’s poetry section every issue, featuring two or more poems from a Canadian poet. Both editors are also responsible for the curation of our annual Summer Reading Issue.

Ideal candidates have experience editing short fiction or poetry, a familiarity with emerging and established Canadian authors and poets, an understanding of Canada’s arts and literature scene, and a love for small print media.

Both positions pay a small per-issue stipend.

This Magazine was named “Small Magazine of the Year” by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors’ in 2010 and 2011. It has been called “what journalism is meant to be” and “the most dangerous magazine in Canada.” Since 1966, we have been publishing smart, edgy writing on politics, opinion, and the arts.

The Arts and Ideas Editor handles the back-of-book arts section, covering Canadian independent artists and cultural issues.

Ideal candidates have magazine editing experience, a passion for social justice and progressive politics, an understanding of Canada’s arts scene, and a love for small, independent print media. Responsibilities include working alongside the editor to assign and substantively edit stories in the section.

This position pays a small per-issue stipend.
